    Vayots Dzor 

Total area: 2308 square kilometers.

 Administrative center: city Yeghegnadzor.

The average distance from Yerevan to the administrative center  is  123 kilometers.

Vayots Dzor is located in the south-east of the country, and is a sparsely populated region of Armenia. Throughout the region there is an endless gorge - Dzor, from which it took its name. To get on the road to neighboring regions, it is necessary to cross the endless dangerous passes. For example, the Selim Pass is located at 2410 m above sea level and is the highest  pass in  Vayots Dzor. TheArpa - the largest river in the region. Its upstream form two Gerger   waterfalls and 60 meterJemruka waterfall. On the territory of Vayots Dzor thereare many mineral springs, fromwhich is the best known source of Jermuk.

Yeghegnadzor

This town is situated on the right bank of the Arpa River and is the administrative center of Vayots Dzor. Historical Village Syunikwas located here in ancient times. It was a place where families of Armenian governed, the most famous one  from which is Orbelian - Armenian princely race.

Jermuk

The most famous resort in Armenia, and the second largest city of Vayots Dzor. City  is around thermal - mineral sources, that's why Jermuk is considered to be the  health resort of the country.

Noravank monastery

The name of the monastery means "New Monastery", translated from the Armenian language. The age of this complex consists of eight centuries, and todayits name is not justified. The complex is located on a ledge of the Arpa River Valley, which is quite narrow and twisty. It was built in the XIII century, and is located near the town of Yeghegnadzor.

Tsahar Kar Monastery

In Vayots Dzor region, six kilometers from the village Yeghegis, is this ancient magnificent complex.
