Sevan is the largest lake in the Caucasus region and one of the largest mountain lakes in the world. Located at an altitude of 1,900 m above sea level, it is surrounded by high mountain ranges. Two capes- Noraduz and Artanish separated by an 8-kilometer strait – divide Lake Sevan into small and big. Small Sevan is distinguished for its depth (98.7 m) and for more indented coastline. The floor of Big Sevan is flat; the coastline is little indented and the maximum depth is 58.7 meters. 28 small rivers flow into the lake and only one-Hrazdan flows out. Sevan lake water surface has sky-blue color and water transparency reaches 11 m. Overage temperature of water 17-19 C° in August and 1.5-1.8 C° in January-February. On the shores of Sevan lake many recreational spots, hotels, restaurants are located.


“Akhtamar” ski center is located on the picturesque slopes of mountains Mashtotsner and Bekarner, where winter sport lovers are offered excellent facilities in accordance with best international standards. For skiers there are all conditions for their favorite sport. 1130m long cable car equipped with 4-seat chair, will take you to the top of the mountain, offering spectacular views of Lake Sevan. The capacity is 800 people/p.hour. Around the ski resort various cafes, bars are located. Ski season runs from late November to mid-March. Ropeway by Italian company Leitner.
